William Charles Whittlesey

CWO4 William C. Whittlesey, 77, of Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully at his home, in the arms of his wife, Teresa, on Dec. 26, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and Dementia.

Chuck was a devoted Marine, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Teresa Anne for 22 years. They traveled the world together having many adventures. Chuck continued to serve his country while Teresa was in the Air Force. He served as a key spouse to her squadron, he volunteered at the hospital where she worked in Aviano, Italy and became fast friends with our Italian neighbors despite not speaking any Italian. He was just that guy that everyone wants to be around. He was full of love for his GOD, life, family, friends, food, and occasionally good scotch.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Chuck served his country with honor and distinction, Mar 1967 – Mar 1992. He did a tour in Vietnam, Jan 1969-1970 with the 1st Battalion 9th Marines aka “The Walking Dead,” where he received two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained in combat as well as the Legion of Merit, Combat Air Medal, in addition to other awards. From Aug 1990 – Mar 1991 Chuck was a Commander in the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines with a call sign of “Aphrodite” in Desert Shield/Desert Storm Aug 1990 – Mar 1991. During his service he also served as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. The Marine Corps will always be Chuck’s first love. He loves his Devil Dog’s, and I am sure they are up there high fiving and Oo-Rah’ in each other all day!

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Miriam Whittlesey, his sisters, Karen Richardson and Marsha Thomas, and his brother, Thomas Whittlesey. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Humphrey, and his brother Arthur Whittlesey along with numerous nieces and nephews. We all love and miss him dearly.

A life celebration will be held on 10th of Jan. at 1400hrs in the chapel of Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home 2925 Fifth St., Sachse, TX 75048.
