Tommy Wallace, 87, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long life spent with the love of his life, Patty Jane Wallace. They enjoyed weekly date nights, watching westerns on T.V., especially Gunsmoke, watching football, but most importantly, The Dallas Cowboys! He was their number one fan. Tommy enjoyed bowling and traveling and loved spending time with family and friends. His favorite thing though, was taking loved ones out to eat, usually to his and Patty Jane’s favorite restaurant, The Blue Goose. It was always his pleasure to do special things for those he loved dearly. He loved his family, extended family, friends, but particularly adored his grandchildren. Tommy always treasured the Garland High School Class of 1957 reunions. He went annually, as the group grew older, and started getting smaller. He so looked forward to visiting with his old friends. After retirement, he liked first Tuesday of the month poker games with several of his close friends. He never won big, often broke even, but never lost much because the stakes were not high. It was just fun to hang out and talk with the guys and order pizza.
Tommy graduated from Garland High school and was forever a Garland Owl in the senior class of 1957. He worked as a machinist for Headway Research, in Garland, Texas. He later accepted a position as a machinist with Docutel in Irving, TX and helped build ATMs. Finally, he brought his experience to BAE Automated Systems in Carrollton, TX and was able to apply his skills and become the supervisor over machinery there. The work project of which he was most proud was building and installing the Denver International Airport Baggage and Transportation System. It was quite impressive!
Tommy was of the Christian faith and was a proud member of Garland’s Masonic Duck Creek Lodge #1419. He served as a 32nd degree Master Mason who continued his education through the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, an appendant body focusing on philosophy, ethics, and allegory. He also served as a WM.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Kathryne Wallace; brother, Hal; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and LeNette Wallace; brother, Larry Wallace; stepson, Patrick Evans; and nephews, Hal D. Wallace II and Larry Don Wallace.
Tommy is survived by his wife and love of his life, Patty Jane Wallace; son Craig Wallace (wife Andrea); grandchildren, Jared Wallace (wife Gina and great-grandson Ian); Haley Wallace; Joshua Wallace (wife Gabrielle); daughter, Carlene Wallace (husband Shawn); grandchildren Kurstin Hilgendorf (husband Chase); great-grandsons, Kason and Colton; Delaney Devlin; Step-daughter, Candy Evans; grandson, Benjamin Desoto Mayor; step-son, Michael Evans (wife Debbie); grandsons Jacob and Jaxon; daughter Mary Amber Martin (husband Brian); grandchildren, Tyler, Tristan and Addi Grace. He had countless other relatives and friends whom he loved and adored and had touched each of their lives in his own special way.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. Timothy 4:7
