William (Bill) Arthur Land Jr.

December 29, 1944 — April 29, 2025

Garland

William Arthur Land Jr. passed away April 29, 2025, at the age of 80 in Richardson, Texas. He was born on December 29, 1944 in Grand Saline, TX to William Arthur Land Sr. “Dub” and Miriam Coffman Land. Bill graduated from Grand Saline High School in 1963 where he ran track. He won a district meet in the 880 and continued all the way to regionals. He attended Tyler Junior College for 2 years and drove a school bus while he was a student, where he graduated on June 3,1966 with an associate of arts degree. Later he moved to Denton and attended North Texas State University where he graduated on August 22, 1969, receiving his bachelor’s degree in business administration.

He married his first wife Victoria Ann “Vicki” Loter in September of 1967. They started a family and raised two boys, William Jeffrey “Jeff” and Joseph Baker “Joey”. They were married for 26 years. Bill was an avid care provider for Vicki before her passing in October of 1993. Bill is known as a man who loved the outdoors, was a tremendous marksman and savvy business owner. He bought Southwest Air Equipment Inc. and eventually retired from there having been a successful owner, salesman and businessman for many years. Bill grew up in a time when it was perfectly acceptable to take your .22 to school and put it in your locker so that after school you could go hunting. His brother Mike recalls stories of how that they would go to the salt prairie and set up targets for shooting. Bill never missed. Mike remembers Bill as being a really good man. After the passing of his first wife Vicki, Bill married his second wife Linda Turquette on May 27,1995 in Garland, TX. They purchased a home in Oakridge Estates where they lived for 25 years until his passing. Bill was fond of visiting the local donut shop where he would meet with like-minded friends and discuss guns, politics and life. He had a great fondness for visiting out of the way cafes and diners. Having been an avid traveler and salesman in his younger years he knew all the places to go if you wanted to get a really good meal anywhere in the North-East Texas area. As his health declined, his wife Linda was constantly at his side to take care of him as he had once done for Vicki. He was a member of the Campbell Road church of Christ for 30 years.

Bill is preceded in death by his father William Arthur Land “Dub”, mother Miriam Coffman Land, first wife Victoria Ann Land “Vicki”. He is survived by his second wife Linda Land, his sons William Jeffrey “Jeff” Land and his wife Sonja and Joseph Baker “Joey” Land and his wife Carrie, stepsons Steve Turquette and his wife Jennifer, Bryan Turquette and his wife Angelia, Timothy Turquette and his wife Darla, his brother Mike Land and his wife Janette, grandchildren Erika Pender and her husband Lucas, Baker Land, Jarod Turquette and his wife Meghan, Madison Turquette, Jason Turquette and his wife Parneet, Chloe Turquette, Daniel Turquette, Sophia Turquette, Ellie Turquette, Abby Turquette, Ethan Turquette, Emma Turquette, great grandchild Molli Pender and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues that respected and loved him.
