Wayne Lloyd Lowry

Wayne Lloyd Lowry, 81, of Princeton, Texas passed away on February 12th surrounded by family and friends. Wayne was born in McKinney, Texas on February 9th, 1945 in McKinney, Texas to Eugene Gardenhire Lowry and Elma Mae Lowry of Prosper, Texas. He was the 5th and youngest child of the family, and a twin to his brother Hubert Floyd Lowry. The twins were so small that the family carried them home to the farm in shoe boxes. Wayne grew up in the McKinney area as well as an 8 year stint in Chehalis, Washington when his father took a preaching job there. He was like most boys of this era – always outside having fun with his brothers and sisters, enjoying nature, and sometimes getting into trouble (but not too much, as his mother would not allow it.) He finished high school back in Prosper, Texas, playing football and preparing for graduation. He studied at UNT and at Rutherford Metropolitan, a computer science trade school in Dallas before joining Texas Instruments in the late 1960s. He met Margaret Ann Jones in 1967 on a blind date arranged by mutual friends, and the couple quickly became close. They wed on March 8, 1969 and began life together in Dallas. Texas Instruments moved the family to Amsterdam, Holland in 1971 for a two year mainframe computer installation project. During this time overseas, Jennifer Ann Lowry was born on August 2nd,1973. The family returned to the states in Dec of 1973 and settled in the Austin area for another TI stint. Daniel Wayne Lowry was born in Austin on December 3rd,1975. The family moved to Plano in 1976 to better care for Jennifer, who was diagnosed with cancer at that time. Jennifer recovered over a five year period, and the family grew again on April 26th, 1980 with the birth of Nicole Marie Lowry. Wayne finished his 33 year career with TI when he retired in 2000,and he and Margaret moved to a 12 acre property northeast of Princeton. He enjoyed life in the country that reminded him of his childhood. It afforded him the luxury of many projects with all that space. He could build or fix just about anything he tasked himself with. In Feb of 2011 their youngest daughter Nicole lost her life unexpectedly. It was a trial for the family like no other, but through their faith God's goodness prevailed. He and Margaret worked for the school district and several other part time jobs over the next 20 years. He drove a school bus for many years and really loved his coworkers and the camaraderie there. They attended Central Baptist Church in McKinney and were faithful members for 17 years. Faith in Christ was a priority for Wayne and Margaret, and they demonstrated their belief through a lifetime of selflessness, love, and support for family, friends, and those less fortunate. Wayne had several serious health incidents in the last 5 years of his life, but he was a very strong-willed man who always found a way to fight through health concerns. He lost his bride in 2022 to illness. His last years were slower, but he still lived independently and got around to church and breakfast with his buddies at Whataburger most mornings.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer, son Daniel and wife Isabel, two grandchildren Olivia and Benjamin and his sister Barbara Lowry Lockhart, all of whom he loved with all of his heart.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday February 19th at 11am at Central Baptist Church (2142 CR 337 McKinney, Texas 75071.) Graveside service will beheld on Saturday February 21st at 2pm south of Henderson at the Zion Hill Cemetery (3558 CR 368E Henderson, Texas 75654.)
