Sheila Dorothy Newton, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Sheila was born on November 19, 1931, in New Delhi, India. She was the beloved wife of the late Cecil Newton and the cherished daughter of the late Rev. Thomas Phillips and the late Mrs. Shanti Phillips.

Sheila was a woman of great dedication, compassion, and wisdom. She graduated from Isabella Thoburn College in Lucknow, India, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Driven by her passion for education and her deep desire to make a difference in the lives of others, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

Sheila devoted an extraordinary 60 years to the field of education, serving as a teacher and principal in schools across India, Nigeria, and the United States. Throughout her distinguished career, she touched the lives of countless students, teachers, and colleagues.

In her later years, Sheila was an active and devoted member of United Christian Church in Garland, Texas. She participated in various volunteer activities and generously gave her time and talents in service to the church and its congregation. She will be remembered with great affection by the many people whose lives she touched through her faith, service, and friendship.

Sheila is survived by her brother, Emmanuel Phillips, and his wife, Kalpana, and her sister, Shobha Singh, and her husband, Baldeo Singh. She also leaves behind four nieces, three nephews, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom will cherish her memory.

Sheila lived a life devoted to faith, family, education, and service. Her gentle spirit, unwavering dedication, and love for others will remain an enduring legacy. Though she will be deeply missed, the countless lives she touched will forever carry a part of her with them.

May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in eternal peace.
