Shelby Wallace Crain, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, in Wylie, Texas. Born on March 8, 1959, in Bastrop, Louisiana, Shelby grew up in a loving family as the youngest child with 3 older sisters .
Shelby found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially during cherished moments at his happy place on the beach in St. George Island. It was there that he made countless memories with his loved ones. He spent many evenings admiring the ocean sunsets with his loving wife, Suzy.
He also found joy in helping others and was known for his incredible ability to fix and build anything. His loved ones can take comfort in being surrounded by his handiwork and creations, which continue to be a lasting reminder of his care and skill.
Shelby was also an extremely dedicated worker, having spent over 40 years as a highly respected Software Engineer. He was admired by his coworkers for his expertise and work ethic, and loved and trusted by the customers he served. His commitment to his profession mirrored the loyalty and dedication he showed in all aspects of his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Merri Anne (Suzy) Crain, his son Harrison Crain and his wife Sadee of Northlake, TX, and his daughter Meredith Morales and her husband Fernando. He was the proud grandfather of Juliette Crain and Beckham Morales, both of whom brought him immense happiness.
Shelby is also survived by his three sisters: Patsy Young, Madelyn Carlock and her husband Rufus, and Clare Jackson, her husband Joe, and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Shelby’s life will be held on September 26th at 2 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, TX. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
Shelby’s unwavering love for his family and pets, his hard work as a dedicated Software Engineer, and his strong faith in Jesus Christ will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family takes great comfort in knowing he is now with his Lord and Savior.
