Sandra Roberta McLeland

Sandra Roberta McLeland, 81, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on September 8, 2025.

She was born December 4, 1943, in Effingham, Illinois, to Dorothy Scherby Waugh and Harley Waugh, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald R. McLeland; her sons, Tim Garrett and Kevin Garrett; three brothers; one sister; and a great-grandson.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Benson and Rebecca Mayoros; her stepdaughters, Donna Taylor and Diane McLeland; her loving sister, Janice Hazelip; and her daughter-in-law, Joann Garrett. She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She loved her family with all her heart and was known for her warmth, strength, and devotion. Sandra also had a lifelong passion for fishing, competing on the women’s fishing circuit for many years. She often said being out on the water brought her the greatest sense of peace.

Sandra’s life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
