Rose Shumway

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother Rose Shumway, a loving mother, grandmother, and partner. Born in El Campo Texas on December 5th, 1955, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 15th, 2025, at the age of 69.

She was known for being a caring and giving person. She was the type of person that would give you her last dollar if you asked for it. Throughout her life, she demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, navigating challenges with unwavering fortitude. She always had a bended ear and a welcoming heart for everyone.

She enjoyed visiting and talking to her grandkids and great grandkids. And let’s not forget she loves going to Choctaw Casino with her sisters Martha and Delores.

Rose's legacy of love and kindness lives on through her devoted children: Lori Kellum of Weston, Texas, and Natasha Flowers of Whitewright, Texas.

Her memory is also treasured by her adoring grandchildren: Justin Gonzales, Jessica Peltier, Ramon Rodriguez, Amanda Rodriguez, Kalea Kellum, Danielle Burns, Jacob Pleasant, Bailey Pleasant, Addison Flowers, and Kayton Flowers.

Her great-grandchildren – Izabel & Haleigh Peltier, Ayden Rodriguez, Dakota Rodriguez, Christian Burns, Peyton Burns, Liam Burns, Leo Gray, August Gray, and Kru Gray – brought her tremendous happiness, and she cherished her role as their great-grandmother.

She is also survived by her siblings Mike Rodriguez, Delores Clay, Martha Perales, Nelda Perales, Amy Gonzales.

And her partner, Derrick Bell, who shared in her life adventures.

Rose was preceded in death by her cherished son, Shawn Flowers, her beloved mother, Dolores Gonzales, and her stepfather, Matt Gonzales.
