Ronald Byron Vance

Ronald Byron Vance, 81, of McKinney, Texas, died on September 7, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1945, in Texarkana, Texas to Stanley and Alice Blalock Vance.

A graduate of East Texas State University, Ronnie earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and went on to devote 34 years to Dallas ISD as a high school biology teacher and football coach. His work in education and athletics formed an important part of his life and reflected years of steady commitment to students and school communities. In retirement, he enjoyed golf, fishing, photography, going to high school football games, and ushering at Frisco Rough Riders baseball games. Most of all, he enjoyed going to his grandchildren's activities.

At the time of his death, Ronnie was an active member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in McKinney. He was remembered as a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, wonderful father, and a devoted papa.

Ronnie shared 60 years of marriage with his wife, Nan. Ronnie is also remembered by his daughters, Megan Van Vessem and her husband, Mark, Betsy Clark and her husband, Lee; his grandchildren, Luke Van Vessem and his wife, Alyssa, Will Van Vessem, Kate Van Vessem, Ben Clark, and Nathan Clark; his great-grandsons, Owen Van Vessem and Carter Van Vessem; and his siblings, Nancy Byrd. Tom Vance, Patti Maxwell, and her husband, Joe, and Kenneth Vance and his wife, Lynn. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronnie’s life was marked by his devotion to his family, his profession, his church, and the communities he served over many years. His memory will remain a lasting blessing to those who knew him.

A memorial service for Ronnie will be October 8 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church at 11:00am.
