August 1, 1948 — May 25, 2026

Wylie

After a courageous fight with cancer, Robert Allan Cron aged 77 of Wylie, TX passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026 while surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; his children, Cindy and Kathy; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Jordan, and David. He received a degree in Physics from Western Kentucky University and a second degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. He worked for several large corporations during his work career and his titles ranged from systems analyst to vice president over fraud. In addition, Robert served in the Air Force and Air National Guard for over 37 years as a navigator on the C-130s. During this time, he received many awards throughout his service and was recognized for outstanding work. He served in the Vietnam War, the Seven Day War, and the Gulf War. He retired from duty as a Lieutenant Colonel. His love for the military and his country was very evident.

Beyond his career and military service, Robert was a true family man who had a deep passion for reading and learning new things, growing and eating hot peppers, fixing things, the Dallas Cowboys, and being a grillmaster. He loved nothing more than sharing a meal that he had grilled out with his family and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He will be remembered most for his mechanical aptitude to fix anything, his delicious BBQ, and his ability to show any spicy pepper exactly who was the boss.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 11, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and family consider making a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
