Renlong Xia passed away on March 13, 2026 at the age of 68. He was born on August 20, 1957 and lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and deep devotion to his family and community.
His journey began in the rural village of Luyuan, Jiangsu. Through talent and determination, he pursued opportunities far beyond his humble beginnings, eventually traveling to the U.S. to study and work. Renlong earned a PhD in mathematics and later a Master’s degree in computer science, building a long career in information technology. He took great pride in creating a stable and meaningful life for his family.
Outside of work, Renlong took pleasure in sharing the simple beauty of life with others. He loved tending his garden, growing fresh fruits and vegetables that he shared with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed fishing, basketball, and singing with friends. His faith was steadfast, and the relationships he formed within his church community remained an enduring source of strength.
Renlong lived with cancer for more than a decade, yet faced life’s challenges with quiet strength. As he reflected in his memoir, the true meaning of life was found in learning, teaching others, cherishing the warmth of family, and treasuring the friendships formed along the way. Those who knew him remember his cheerful spirit and the genuine joy he brought to those around him.
Renlong is survived by his beloved wife, Sanping Ding, and his son, Jeremy Xia, along with many relatives and friends. Though his voice and presence are gone, his character and spirit endure. His life - simple yet rich, warm yet steadfast - will remain forever in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th St, Sachse, TX 75048.
