Do Hong Phuc was born on August 16, 1969, and grew up in Vung Tau, Vietnam, in a working-class family that faced many hardships. He was the second of four children. After completing the ninth grade, he moved to Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) to work for relatives, driven by the needs of his family and his own circumstances.
In August 1991, he and his younger sibling arrived at the Bataan refugee camp in the Philippines under the Orderly Departure Program (ODP), where they received an introduction to American culture.
In February 1992, after seven months in the Bataan camp, the two brothers left the Philippines for New Jersey, where they began their new lives and careers.
In 1997, they relocated to Texas, which remained his home until his passing.
In 1998, he accepted Christ and was baptized.
In 1999, he married; the wedding took place at the Vietnamese Baptist Church in Richardson, where he and his wife had first met. A few years later, they welcomed a son.
Phuc was a hardworking man who cared deeply for his family and was always ready to help others whenever the opportunity arose. He remained dedicated to serving the church until his physical health no longer allowed him to continue.
Despite the hardships and struggles he faced, he maintained an optimistic and cheerful spirit in all circumstances—whether in health or in illness—right up until his last breath.
Survived by wife and son, along with Do family.
