Milton Ramsey

Oct 28, 1937 — Aug 18, 2026

Garland, Texas

Milton Wayne Ramsey, 88, of Garland, Texas, went home to be with his Lord on August 18, 2026, in Plano, Texas.

Milton was born October 28, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy Ramsey and Jimmie Suttle. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University. He began his career as a school teacher, and along the way he discovered a gift for technology that carried him from the classroom into a career as a software and networking engineer, ultimately serving as Director of Technology for the Plano Independent School District.

On April 18, 1959, Milton married Betty Fay Longino, and he remained her devoted husband for the rest of their lives. Together they raised two sons, Matthew and Marshall, and family was the joy of Milton’s life. He coached his boys in soccer and basketball from the time they were small all the way through their senior years of high school. Money was often tight in those early years, but it never kept the family home. Every year Milton and Betty loaded up the boys for a road trip, and the destination never mattered nearly as much as the time spent together.

Milton loved reading poetry, metal detecting in the Enchanted Circle mountains of New Mexico, and fishing the saltwater flats of South Texas.

On Friday, October 24, 1997, at a Promise Keepers conference in Dallas, Milton accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. That decision shaped the rest of his life, and his family finds great comfort today in knowing that he is with Jesus, his Savior, and reunited with Betty.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 67 years, Betty, who passed away on April 30, 2026; his daughter-in-law, Amanda Ramsey; and his sisters, Martha Parr and Myra Vilches.

He is survived by his sons, Matthew Ramsey and Marshall Ramsey, and by his three grandsons, the sons of Matthew and Amanda: John David Ramsey; Jordan Ramsey and his wife, Vivian; and James Ramsey and his wife, Cynthia. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
