Michael Dean Hanson

Michael Dean Hanson, affectionately known as Mike, rode into this world on two wheels on January 27, 1965, in the small town of Wasco, California. On June 9, 2025, he left us at the age of 60, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and perhaps a few unfinished projects in his garage.

Mike grew up with a wrench in his hand and a twinkle in his eye, eventually becoming a highly skilled mechanic renowned throughout the automotive industry. If there was an engine that needed fixing, Mike was your guy. His knack for solving mechanical puzzles and his ability to get any car purring like a kitten was renowned. Yet, it wasn’t just his skill with cars that made him special; it was the way he approached life with a strong will and an infectious sense of humor. Mike had a peculiar talent for getting himself into pickles, but somehow, he always managed to come out unscathed, often with a story that left everyone in stitches.

More than anything, he was a loving father, a caring brother, and a wonderful son. His family was his pride and joy. Those who knew Mike remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest, a beacon of strength and warmth who could always be counted on. His zest for life and infectious laughter will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

He is preceded in death by his father Dean Hanson. He is survived by his daughter Savana Hanson, his Mother Frances Hanson, his sisters Debbie Hanson, Christy Hanson Hebrank, and brothers Curtis Hanson and Chris Hanson. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Mike’s life. A viewing will be held on June 14th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM at Charles W. Smith & Son's Funeral Home, located at 2343 Lake Road, Lavon, TX 75166. After the service, we will gather at Bear Creek Ranch Event Center, just a short drive away. The ranch is located at 1045 Bear Creek Ranch, Nevada, TX 75173. It’s a chance to share stories and laugh, just the way Mike would have wanted.

In this time of remembrance, let us honor Mike not with tears, but with laughter and stories of the joy he brought into our lives. We’ll miss you, Mike, but we know you’re somewhere up there, tinkering with the engines of the heavens and still finding ways to make us smile.
