Meredith Jeanette Clay

Meredith Jeanette Clay, 25, of Bryan, Texas, passed away on September 20, 2026.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 14, 2001. Meredith graduated from Southern High School in Harwood, Maryland, and received degrees in Horticulture Science, Plant and Environmental Soil Science, and Plant Breeding from Texas A&M University. She was working toward a PhD in Plant Breeding and was a graduate teaching assistant at Texas A&M University.

Meredith lived her life exploring and experiencing all that the world had to offer. If she wasn’t traveling to a new country, she was finding a concert, social meetup, or conference to attend. She was a jack of all trades, with the most gifted green thumb anyone ever knew. She was a voracious student of school, nature, and animals, a passion that was evident through her hobbies and academic success. Meredith and her electric presence lit up every room she entered, and she engaged wholeheartedly in every conversation she was a part of. She was well known for her kindness and unfailing willingness to support anyone who asked for her help.

Many knew Meredith from her unrelenting passion for horses, made evident through her time at Dover Saddlery and her childhood spent living at the barn. Her connection with animals persisted through her ever-growing flock of chickens and her love for her pets. She was a dedicated member of her high school FFA (Future Farmers of America), and in college, she helped create the social group CHIL (Cannabis Hemp Innovation League). She was fearless; if she wanted to accomplish something, she pursued it with immense vigor.

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Colleen; her sisters, Hilary Clay and Jillian Welge (Kyle Welge); her brother, Jackson Clay; her nephews, Christian Antonucci and Russell Welge; and her grandparents, William and Patricia Kelly.

A church service in celebration of Meredith’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove Methodist Church, followed by light refreshments in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 5965 Deale Churchton Rd, Deale, MD 20751. Family and friends are invited to attend the service and subsequent gathering to remember and celebrate her life.
