Marilyn Jorgensen Stiefer

Marilyn Jorgensen Stiefer, age 84, of Denison, Texas, died on December 30, 2025 surrounded by her family.  She was born on January 19, 1941 to Frances Marie Emerick and Harry Edwin Jorgensen in Lee Township, Michigan.

Marilyn met her husband, Arthur Wayne Stiefer at Central Engineering and Supply Company in 1966. They were married at Oak Lawn Methodist Church on August 31, 1968. Marilyn graduated from Niles High School in 1959. She worked at Johnson Controls, Central Engineering and Supply, then eventually retired from MetLife. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Scrabble, and trips to Choctaw. Marilyn’s pride and joy was her grandson, Dylan. They enjoyed going back and forth with a witty, often warped banter that only the two of them shared.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Wayne Stiefer, parents Frances Marie Emerick and Harry Edwin Jorgensen; sister Ruth Jorgensen Smith; brothers Ronald Jorgensen and Harry Jorgensen Jr., brother-in-law Billy Gene Stiefer.

Marilyn is survived by her son Bill Barnes of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her daughter Cassandra “Sandi” Thrash and son in law Jeff Thrash of Sherman, Texas; her grandson Dylan Wayne Mathis of Lewisville, Texas; sisters Marcia Garner, Sandy Durm, Eleanor Hall; brother Art Jorgensen, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas.

 Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas.
