Marcy Lynn James

January 12, 1949 — July 2, 2025

Garland

Marcy Lynn James of Garland, Texas completed her earthly journey and joined Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, July 2nd. Her life was devoted to her family and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

Marcy was the second of four daughters born to Ross and Marie Creamer of Portales, NM. She was preceded to Heaven by her parents, sister Teri Glisson, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Marcy leaves behind her loving husband of fifty-five years, Walt, her daughter Sarah, son Michael, daughter-in-law Shelly, and four grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Kathy Long, Melisa Blair, wife to Cleve Blair; and her sister-in-law Patty James Robinson, wife of Ted Robinson. Other living relatives include her nephews, Joseph and Chris Long, Andy and Mike Robinson; and her nieces Mary Pat Mitchell and Lisa Aday.

Marcy graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1967 with a double degree in English and History. She started her career in retail banking at Alamo Savings and Loan in San Antonio, TX; and later, worked as a residential home loan appraiser at Dallas Federal Savings and Loan. After some time, Marcy decided to pursue a teaching certification from the Association of Christian Schools International. Once certified, she taught middle-school English at San Antonio Christian School, high-school English at Trinity Secondary School, and 5th grade at Keystone Academy. Marcy was a favorite among her students and fellow faculty members, known for her compassion and her calm and grace under pressure. Throughout her life, Marcy also participated in the world-renown Bible Study Fellowship as a Children’s and Discussion Group leader.

For the last eleven years of her career, Marcy was a Corporate Chaplain for Marketplace Ministries of Plano, TX. She served on the President’s Council and wrote many helpful and insightful articles for the monthly newsletter and magazine. Marketplace literature prominently featured pictures of her ministering to clients. She was also frequently commended by the businesses she served and her fellow chaplains for being such an excellent example of God’s love. In a 2005 letter, Marketplace President Gil Stricklin told her, “God is using you daily in the lives of so many. You are truly a great blessing.” Marcy’s life’s purpose was sharing the Good News and caring for others. She was known for her joyful countenance, sympathetic ear, and profound empathy.

Marcy’s interests included travelling, getting together with family and friends, and shopping. However, not many know that she was a writer of poetry and prose. She loved using the written word to creatively express her thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

Marcy will be deeply missed by her friends and loved ones. However, we know by faith that she is in the Presence of God and keeping company with all the saints. She has been a blessing to so many.

The family requests that remembrances be made in her name to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
