Lynda Hazel Chizk, 84, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 11, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Lynda, aka “Grammy” was born on December 11,1941 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Lawrence and Eliza Dickson.
After graduating from Monticello Hight School in 1960, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the FBI. While living there, she met and married her husband Don Chizk in 1961. Together they raised their only child, Don Jr., aka “Donnie”. Later in life Lynda would proudly earn her degree as a registered nurse.
Grammy will be remembered by many and loved by all. She was a devout Christian and active member of the Heritage Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas where she cherished her time with the congregation. In her spare time, she enjoyed various creative hobbies, including pottery and quilting. Most recently, she completed a crocheted baby blanket for her 8th great grandbaby. She wanted to make sure that each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren had their own crocheted blanket lovingly made by Grammy. It was a proud moment for her when she was finally done. The blankets are all unique, beautiful, and will be cherished forever.
Nothing brought her more happiness than her family, especially spending time with her three grandkids and 8 great-grandchildren. Grammy loved the holidays. Her deviled eggs were an Easter requirement, her blueberry mess cake for Thanksgiving was legendary, and Christmas morning never truly began until her breakfast casserole was out of the oven. These cherished traditions and memories will live forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been a part of them.
Lynda is survived by her brother, Lawerence Dickson; her son, Don Jr. “Donnie” and his wife, Amy; 3 grandchildren: Mason and his wife Georgi; Sydney Durham and her husband Preston; Sophie Camp and her husband Carter; 8 great grandchildren: Silas and Cedric Chizk; Ellias, Lucy, Emery, and Isla Durham; and Winnie and Millie Camp.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don; her sisters, Barbara & Mildred and brother John.
