(L.C. )Lemuel Cortez Moss, Jr.

Lemuel Cortez Moss, Jr. (L.C.), lovingly known by family as “Papa” peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2026.

He was the first of two children born to the late Lemuel “Cortez” Moss, Sr. and Ada Marie Harbert Moss on September 13, 1941, in Borger, Texas.

L.C. lived in Borger, Texas where he attended high school. His family moved from Texas and lived in Missouri and Colorado. While in Colorado, he finished high school and worked at the local station being a DJ. He moved back to Dallas, Texas and worked doing various jobs. In the late 1970’s, L.C. moved to Monroe, Louisiana and formed a small business with a cousin. In 1979, he moved back to Dallas, Texas and attended DeVry Institute where he obtained his degree in electronics and worked in that field at various companies until his retirement in 2010.

In 1980, while attending Fountain Gate Bible College in Plano, L.C. met Beverly Dietert and formed a friendship that developed into a relationship in January 1981 resulting in marriage on June 28, 1981, and remained happily married for 44 ½ years and together raised three children.

L.C.'s legacy was his wholehearted devotion to loving and serving God and others through prayer, worship, generosity, and practical acts like cleaning the church – no job was above or beneath him to do. L.C. was content to work behind the scenes allowing others to shine. In his spare time, he loved to read the Bible, play his trumpet, fish, play dominoes along with repairing and building things.

L.C. preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel “Cortez” Moss, Sr. and his mother Ada Marie Harbert Moss.

L.C. will forever be remembered by his children Christopher Moss, Stephen Moss and his wife Sara, Christi Crump and her husband Benjamin, three granddaughters Callie, Addison and Zoey Crump along with one great-grandson, Aiden Tyer, and his brother Kent Moss and his wife, Bettie along with countless friends and family who were blessed to have known him.
