Larry Paul Duncan, 77, of McKinney, Texas, went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. He was born in McKinney, TX to the late Paul and Wanda Duncan on February 14, 1948.
He met Martha Ann Scalf in 1964 and they were married on December 17, 1965. Larry and Martha had three daughters, Angela, Tina and Wendy.
Larry was truly a man of many talents.
He was a mechanic, a carpenter and a Master Electrician to name a few. He also had a passion for Ham Radios and over the years he administered licensing exams in Radio and Morse code operations. There was nothing he couldn’t do if he took the notion and the interest. He was an avid reader and was primarily self-taught in all of his hobbies and pursuits.
Larry was also a Father, Husband, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, and friend. He was affectionately called “Poppy” by almost everyone in the family. But most importantly, Larry was a Christian. He had a deep and personal faith with his Lord and Savior and spent his life praying for those he loved. He will be remembered for his kindness and quick wit. His memory will live on through the many lives he has touched.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Duncan, his daughters Tina and husband, Ben Fox of Springdale, AR and Wendy and husband Joseph Bassett of Sherman, TX; his grandchildren: John Crane, Jr. of Mena, AR, Sondra Crane of Lueders, TX, Amy Crane of Ashtabula, Ohio, Alexandria Whan (Corbin) of Anna, TX, Katie Tennyson (Eric) of Gallatin, TN, Ashlyn Bailey (Tyler) of Springdale, AR and Daniel Fox of Springdale, AR; nine great-grandchildren, Mia, Ellen, Jonathan, Jace, Audrey, Wesley, Walker, Hadley, and Lenora; and brother, Gary Duncan (Delores) of Winnsboro, TX.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Theresa Dennis and his daughter Angela Duncan.
To honor Larry’s memory, a graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in McKinney on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will follow at First Baptist Church of McKinney from 1-3 p.m.
