Kay Frances Lothenore, age 89, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Kay was born on February 28, 1936 in Chicago, IL to her late parents, John Dunn and Anne Kalinoski. On July 3, 1954, Kay married the love of her life, Pastor Bob Lothenore. The two of them shared life together for 71 years. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Joan Villeneuve and Janet Webb. She is survived by her husband Bob Lothenore, her brother, Bob (Joyce) Vittetoe of Portage, IN, her daughters Lisa Lothenore of Wichita Falls, TX and Laura (Max) Stone of Piedmont, OK, her grandchildren Timothy (Kristi) Odom, Jennifer (Nick) Garcia, Jonathan (Kelli) Odom, Bronson (Ashley) Schubert, and Makenzie (Zach) Barnes, and her 16 great grandchildren.
Kay possessed a vibrant personality, quick to laugh and marked by wonderfully unique quirks. Known affectionately by her grandkids as "The Sarge," she was meticulous, famous for her crisply ironed shirts and the rule that no white carpet was ever touched by outside shoes, reflecting her devotion to order and bleach. Yet, her heart was equally devoted to spoiling her family: she ensured their wallets were never empty by passing out lucky $2 bills, mailed timely Hallmark cards, and introduced her great-grandchildren to her love for McDonalds burgers and Coca Cola. She celebrated her Polish roots with a lifelong devotion to sauerkraut and was an exquisite baker of "pea pickin' good" cakes. Kay ministered faithfully alongside Bob across the country, embarking on many adventures, including the purchase of a former hospital in Henrietta, OK, which was a source of her treasured antiques. Her constant companions were a Peach Snapple, a hankie in her watch strap, and her purse, which held dollar store notepads filled with prayer lists and sermon notes. Most remarkably, she held the birthdays of her two children, five grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren effortlessly in her memory.
Kay’s life will be celebrated by her family and friends, November 15, 2025. Services will be hosted at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2343 Lake Rd., Lavon, TX 75166. Visitation will be at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
