John Jessup was born August 6th, 1940, in Dallas Texas, to Tom and Gerda Jessup, along with his siblings Kathryn, Tommy, Elizabeth, and Patty.
John was a faithful follower of Jesus who allowed his love for His Savior to lead each role that he filled within his 85 years of life. Some of his most cherished roles included a committed athlete, loving father, and proud grandfather. But his most prized role, for which he felt utmost honor, was that of a devoted husband of 62 years to Sandra Jessup.
In 1959 John and Sandra Jessup met at Baylor University, where John obtained his Bachelors degree in Business Administration, while also earning his varsity recognition as a letterman for his accomplishments on both the football and track & field team. Shortly after graduation, Sandra and John married and had two children, son Jason and daughter Jennifer.
A gifted athlete, John attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where he was recognized by the Dallas Morning News as a member of the All-City Football Team and All-Greater Dallas Football Team for the year 1958. John also won the Dallas city Shot Put championship his senior year. Upon graduating high school, John attended Baylor University in Waco, starting for the university's football team and competing for the Men's Track and Field team. His time at Baylor was also spent serving as a student leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, building his faith and sharing his love for the Lord with other athletes as well.
Upon graduation, John began building his successful business career as an executive in the restaurant industry, serving in both national and regional leadership positions. John has been recognized for his immense success with the restaurant company of Razzoo’s, as long-time Vice President of Purchasing, and ultimately part owner. But more than just his success, John is remembered for his integrity, wisdom, and strong Christ-like leadership.
Above all, John was a man of unwavering faith. John was committed to honoring His Savior, Jesus Christ, by living committed to the scriptures, and leaving behind a legacy that will bless thousands of generations to come.
On April 18th, 2026, with Sandra by his side and holding his hand, John was welcomed into the arms of His Savior. As Sandra sang the hymn, “Amazing Grace”, John breathed his last breath, leaving this world the way that he lived every breath before, honoring his King next to his beautiful wife.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Jessup; his son, Jason Jessup, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Jessup; his daughter, Jennifer McEuen, and son-in-law, Robert McEuen; his granddaughter, Jacquelyn Jessup; his sister Patty Glenn; as well as several nephews and nieces.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gerda Jessup; his brother, Tommy Jessup; and his sisters, Kathryn Maracin and Elizabeth Miller.
John’s life is beautifully reflected in the words of Scripture: “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” – Proverbs 20:7
