Jodie F. Carpenter

November 27, 1946 — July 20, 2025

Allen, Tx

Jodie Ferrell Carpenter, 78, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025.

Jodie was born on November 27, 1946, in Lookeba, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and spent most of his early life in Borger, Texas. In 1964, at the age of 18, he married the love of his life, Connie Nell, beginning a marriage that spanned 60 devoted years.

Jodie worked as a roustabout in the oilfields during his younger years, embracing the hard-working spirit of West Texas. Later, he moved to the Plano area, where he joined his family as a housing inspector.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Jodie loved to hunt—whether with rifle or bow—and was happiest in a deer stand or by the water with a fishing pole. He was infamous for teasing friends and family about his “squirrel head stew,” and could often be found enjoying his morning cappuccino and cigarettes from the local 7-Eleven.

Above all, Jodie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He rarely missed an event or game for his grandchildren, and his love for his family was fierce and unwavering. He will be remembered for his laughter, loyalty, and the deep pride he took in those he loved.

Jodie was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Opal Carpenter; his brother, Calvin Carpenter; and his sister, Vickie Eason.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Nell Carpenter; his sister, Deana Parks (Gerald); his children, Travis Carpenter (Miriam), Tyler Carpenter (Beth-Ann), Terri Carpenter; and his grandchildren, Tristan Carpenter, Clay Carpenter, Payton Goines, Cade Carpenter, and Reece Carpenter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him, but are grateful to know he came to know Jesus in this life, and he is now with Him.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, August 9th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Joe Juarez’s barn, located at 505 Bastrop Road, Lucas, Texas 75002.

We’ll spend the afternoon sharing stories, memories, and a few laughs in Jodie’s honor. Light refreshments— including some of his favorite snacks—will be served.

In keeping with Jodie’s laid-back spirit, we kindly ask that guests dress in country casual, comfortable attire—no neckties necessary. Please feel free to come and go as you're able. A few words of remembrance will be shared around 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, a one-time donation may be made to the Texas Land Conservancy. For more information, please visit: https://www.texaslandconservancy.org/ways-to-give
