Jo Ann Edwards Chandler was born on April 9, 1932, in Branch, Texas to William Hershel Edwards & Lillian Ann Dees Edwards. Growing up in Collin County, she lived mainly in Farmersville, Nevada, McKinney & Princeton.
Jo Ann married Tommy ‘Bud’ Chandler in April 1952, and they moved to Garland where together they raised five children, Joyce, Shirley, Judy, Annette & David.
She spent several years raising her family and then worked for Kraft Foods for 24 years before retiring in the early 1990’s. Jo Ann loved traveling, shopping thrift stores, telling naughty jokes, gardening, sewing and quilting.
Jo Ann was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Joel Evans, Roxanne Evans & Russell Evans (Angela) of Garland. John Crow (Monica), Jessica Brock & Jeri Goswick of Canton, TX. Matthew Clark (Cindy) of Farmersville & Brian Clark (Tina) of Ft. Worth and Melanie McDorman of Forney, TX. She has 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Bud Chandler; her infant son Jeffrey Scott Chandler, her infant granddaughter Rachel Chandler, her parents and siblings, Pauline Hankey, Goldie Bernice Edwards, Vera Dutton, James Edwards, Billy Ray Edwards & Lois Jean Riley. She is survived by her children, Joyce Evans of Garland, Shirley Lane (Jerry) of Wills Point, Judy Clark of Farmersville, Annette Garner (Johnny) of Rowlett & David Carl Chandler of Garland.
The family would like to thank Silverstone Hospice for their assistance in Mom’s care and also thank our brother, David Carl, for his unwavering love, dedication and care for Mama. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and will be forever missed.
