Jerry Douglas Buchanan was born on February 16, 1943 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Douglas Erwin Buchanan and Ruth Cozart Buchanan. Jerry went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2026.
Jerry attended school in Caddo Mills, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Stewart Buchanan, and together they shared 63 beautiful years of marriage. They were blessed with two children. Jerry was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Wylie. He loved the Lord and looked forward to his perfect healing after a long, hard fought battle.
Jerry found his passion working in the extrusion die industry and later started his own business of 40+ years with his dear friends. He was a devoted provider and worked hard to care for his family. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved hunting, camping, fishing, and golf. He had a true love for the outdoors and was known as someone who could accomplish anything he set his mind to.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Buchanan; his daughter, Christa, and her husband, Raymon; his grandchildren, Caleb and Megan Montgomery of Cooper, and Ben and Sarah Montgomery of Cooper; Matt and Brittany Buchanan of Wylie; and Sam Buchanan of Dallas. He is also survived by his brother, David, and his wife, Rebecca of Caddo Mills, his brother and sister in law, Truett and Linda Welborn of Garland, along with many beautiful great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Douglas Scott Buchanan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jerry’s doctors, nurses, special caregivers, and the Methodist Hospital staff for their care.
