George N. Rector, 69, passed away on January 30, 2026 in McKinney, Texas, surrounded by his children. He was born on August 13, 1956 in Madison, Indiana. George lived a life marked by hard work, deep-rooted values, and a genuine love for people. A 1975 graduate of Madison High School, George carried the lessons of his youth into a life of dedicated labor and service. He worked for the City of Richardson as a concrete worker and later at Frank's Meat Company as a butcher. In both roles he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic--qualities that defined him throughout his life.
George found joy in the simple pleasures: casting a line on a quiet morning fishing trip, tracking game during hunting season, or searching for hidden treasures while thrifting. He had a passion for cooking and often brought people together around meals prepared with care.
He was a man who never met a stranger more than once. His warm spirit and infectious laughter left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered, whether sharing stories or striking up conversations with a passerby. George had an uncanny ability to make others feel seen and valued. His presence brought comfort and joy to many.
George was a member of the Cowboy Church of Collin County, where he found fellowship and spiritual grounding. His faith was evident in the way he loved others, with kindness, generosity, and unwavering acceptance. He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Hester, Georgine Rector, and Dawn Corwin, and his son, Daniel Rector. Their lives are a testament to his enduring influence and unconditional love.
He was preceded in death by his father Carroll George Rector, his mother Laura Jean Patterson, two sisters Carol Rector and Sue Martin, and two brothers Tim Rector and Terry Rector.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and also serve as a reminder of the power of kindness and connection in everyday life.
Memorial will be held February 6, at 2 PM at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home, 2343 Gage Road, Lavon, Texas. After the service, a gathering of friends and family will be held in the banquet room.
