Elbert W. “Wayne” Long of Sachse, TX passed peacefully into eternal life on October 21st, 2025. Wayne was born March 19th, 1933 in Randolph, TX to SC and Ruby Long. In his time on Earth, he built a beautiful life alongside his beloved wife, Martha. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending part of his service stationed in Japan. After a full career with Ford Motor Company, he retired from a career in computer technologies with Carter BloodCare. Beyond his work, Wayne found great joy tending to his garden, caring for his pecan trees, and being surrounded by family.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father, cherished grandpa, and a faithful servant of our savior, Jesus Christ. Today, he rejoices in the kingdom of Heaven. Psalm 23:1-3 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters; He refreshes my soul.”
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, SC and Ruby Long; His siblings, Gene Long, Lloyd Long, Dorothy Ginn, and James Long; And his grandson, David Dewayne Long. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Long; His two sons and their spouses, Doyle and Cynthia Long and Royce and Cheryl Long; Eight grandchildren and their spouses, James Long, Neal Long, Kevin Long, Theresa Long, Kelly and James Radke, Richard Long, Michelle and Chase Watkins, Kelsey and Catherine Taylor, and Melanie and Reese Massey; and Ten great-grandchildren, Devin Dewayne Long, Adam Long, Easton Long, Samantha Watkins, Truett Wayne Watkins, Corrina Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Scarlett Massey, Kelsey Massey, and Graham Massey.
