It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Ancery Tissier, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He passed peacefully in his sleep on July 30, 2023 at the age of 90.
Daniel was born January 2, 1933 in Nevers, France. Sponsored by his uncle, August Ancery, his journey to America began in Philadelphia at age 17. At 19, Daniel joined the United States Air Force and later, while stationed in Germany, he met his “dearest friend, sweetheart and wife” Marcella. Not allowed to go out until turning 18, Marcella met Dan a day after her 18th birthday. The couple loved dancing, spending time with Marcella’s large family and exchanging letters while Dan was deployed with the military.
Daniel and Marcella wed on November 3, 1956 and were married for 65 years. They both became American citizens and moved frequently throughout Dan’s military career. After completing 20 years of service, Dan retired from the USAF. He later worked as a Technical Representative for Ampex and then as a Realtor, which was a natural fit as he loved talking to all people.
Daniel loved his family with all his heart and was proud of each and every one of them. He was boisterous and known for being a people person. He loved gathering with family and friends, listening to music, dancing, enjoying good food and traveling. His hobbies included piddling in his workshop, fixing things around the house, gardening, and playing poker with his buddies. He was also an avid animal lover who had a passion for caring for his Bannies chickens.
Dan gave to those in need as often as possible and always showed sincere appreciation to everyone who helped him throughout his life. He was very determined and everything he did was done with all his might. When he laughed, he laughed so hard that eventually the sound would fade and only the tears of happiness would remain. He will be remembered for his kindness and tender heart; and the memories we shared with him will be cherished forever.
Daniel was greeted in heaven by his beloved wife, his parents Louis and Marcelline Tissier, and many other special extended family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters Linda and Janette, his two sons-in-law Mike and Ralph, and his brother Joseph. He was a loving “Grandpa” to four grandchildren Travis, Nicole, Collin and Michael, and the best “Opa” to his 5 great-grandchildren, Grayson, Steele, Juliette, Seanix and Sloane. He also was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Daniel's Life on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 2pm-4pm; at Mustang Creek, 3900 Ranch Rd, Sachse, TX 75048 (House B).
There will be an Honorary Military Service in San Antonio at a later date. Daniel and Marcella will be together again in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The National Kidney Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
