Clayton Calhoun

March 18, 1961 — January 30, 2026

Wylie, Texas

Clayton Gerald Calhoun passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on January 30, 2026. He was a strong Christian and born-again believer. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Clay was born on March 18, 1961, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Gerald George Calhoun and Melva Lu Dixon Calhoun. He was raised in Midland where he began working in construction at the age of 15. Clay and Julie Aline Mangum Calhoun were married August 22, 1981. They both went on to attend and graduate from Texas A&M University where he earned a degree in Construction Science.

After college, he and Julie returned to Midland where they started a family, and Clay began a successful lifelong career in construction. His work carried him and his family across the state working on multiple projects. In 1998, he joined Centex Construction (now Balfour Beatty Construction) in Dallas. He worked on many large projects in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. Most recently, he was instrumental in establishing and running an equipment yard for BBC.

Clay and his family landed in Wylie where they have lived for 26 years. He was a wonderful provider and father. Over the years he enjoyed coaching, helping and cheering on their children in many sports, tending his chickens, mowing on his tractor, and lazy days on the beach. He and Julie enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home. Clay loved grilling and providing a meal for any who chose to show up. Those who knew him will remember him for his dry sense of humor and quiet diligence.

Clay is survived by his wife, Julie; his children and grandchildren, Clint and Aryn Calhoun, Jovie, Dallas, Cohen and Juno; Christi and Aaron Foust, Trenton, Tripp and Tate; Kelli Calhoun; Cade and Leah Calhoun, Kaia, Michael, and Zandon. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Steve and Diane Calhoun and Scott and Rebekah Calhoun; his brother-in-law Doug Mangum, sister-in-law Jill Mangum Ricks and her husband David Ricks, sister-in-law D’Anne Pickens and her husband Tim Pickens. Along with many other loving family members – cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
