A Loving Husband, Devoted Father, Proud Grandfather, Cherished Brother, and Friend
Chris P. Broschart, Sr., 69, passed away on October 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, hard-earned lessons, and a community of family and friends who will forever carry his love in their hearts.
Born on January 23, 1957, at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, Maryland, to William E. Broschart, Sr., and Grace T. Palmer, Chris graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1975. He went on to build a life centered around the values he believed in most: hard work, family, and steadfast integrity. For 35 years, Chris worked as a mechanic for Montgomery County Transit in Rockville, Maryland. He understood the value of an honest day's work—believing in showing up, doing the job right, and taking pride in what you accomplished. His work ethic wasn’t just something he talked about; it was something he demonstrated every single day.
To those who knew him best, Chris was so much more than a hardworking man. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Chris had a personality that was impossible to forget. He loved making people laugh, and if there was an opportunity to crack a joke, offer a sarcastic remark, or give someone a little good-natured grief, you could count on him to take it. He had a rare gift for turning an ordinary moment into a story that would be talked about for years. Chris had a strong presence and an even stronger voice; he always told you exactly how it was. He was grounded, resolute, delightfully stubborn at times, and always undeniably himself.
As a father and family man, Chris could be stern. He held high expectations, believed deeply in discipline, and wasn't afraid to provide tough love when it was needed. While those lessons weren't always fully appreciated in the moment, time revealed a man who simply wanted the people he cared about to become strong, responsible, and resilient.
He taught those around him that life isn't always easy, that nothing worthwhile comes without effort, and that your word and your character mean everything. He showed that love isn't only expressed through words—it is found in sacrifices made, long days worked, practical advice given, and the quiet determination to provide for others. And while Chris could be tough, he also knew how to bring joy and laughter to those around him, reminding everyone that life was meant to be enjoyed.
Chris leaves behind his beloved wife, Janice Broschart; his sons, Chris Broschart, Jr., Donald Broschart, and Taylor Broschart; and his stepdaughters, Amber Zeller, Carly Crowell, and Allison Spotswood. He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 8 great-grandchildren, through whom his stories and legacy will continue for generations. He is also survived by his siblings, Billy Broschart, Sally Younger, Betty Sims, Mary Grace Griffith, Barbara Hourihan, and John Broschart. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Broschart, Mike Broschart, and Larry Broschart.
He will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit, his enduring lessons, and his laughter will be proudly carried forward by the family and friends he leaves behind, ensuring that his remarkable legacy lives on in every life he touched.
