Charles "Don" Anderson

August 11, 1940 — February 1, 2026

McKinney, Texas

Charles “Don” Anderson, 85, of McKinney, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.

Don was born on August 11, 1940, in Princeton, Texas, to Jack and Thelma Anderson. He was one of ten children, and as you can imagine, life in a household that big produced no shortage of laughter, mischief, and legendary stories that were told—and retold—over the years.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Helen, Betty, Jackie, and Margie, and his brothers Jimmy, Jerry, and Billy. He is survived by his sisters Linda and Vickie, who remained a cherished part of his life.

Don leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Keith Anderson and wife Jennifer, Anita Mendieta and husband Albert, Kristi Goff and husband Jeff, Mitch Seagraves and wife Tracy, and Stacie Schmidt and husband Lynn. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Brandon, Ashley, Haley, Stephany, Dakota, Hudson, Josh, Connor, Landen, Shannon, and Alicia, as well as eight great-grandchildren whom he absolutely adored.

Don was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Connie. They were married on August 7, 1959, and together they raised their family in Garland, Texas. They shared a love for riding horses and attending playdays, building memories that lasted a lifetime.

Don married the love of his life, June, on November 14, 1997. From the moment they found each other, Don’s life was forever changed for the better. June brought renewed joy, laughter, and companionship into his life, and together they built a partnership rooted in love, respect, and deep friendship. They spent many wonderful years traveling, enjoying life, and creating memories side by side. They were truly blessed to have found one another and to share more than 28 beautiful years together, a love that was evident to everyone who knew them.

A hardworking man, Don spent many years in commercial and residential construction. He also enjoyed buying and selling farm equipment and could often be found traveling to tractor auctions across Texas and Oklahoma. When it came time to relax, Don loved traveling to Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Colorado, soaking in the beauty of the mountains.

One of Don’s favorite pastimes was simply going out to eat, whether it was Ballard Street Grill in Wylie, where he held an honorary seat at the beloved “Table of Knowledge,” or Cattleman’s in Blue Ridge. Conversation, good food, and laughter were never in short supply when Don was around.

Don was a devoted member of Brookhaven Church in McKinney, where he was active and deeply valued his breakfast meetings and Bible studies with friends. His faith and fellowship meant a great deal to him.

Everyone who knew Don loved him. He was always telling jokes, sharing stories, or offering life advice. He had a rare gift for keeping people connected and was truly the glue that kept the family informed and close. His presence filled a room, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be replaced.

Don will be missed beyond words and loved forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Brookhaven Church in McKinney.
