Brent Glen Self, a loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, in Rockwall, Texas, at the age of 54. He was a New Year’s Day baby born on January 1, 1971, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Richard and Connie Self.
Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Audrey Self, Chester and Catherine Petty, Uncles Richard and Mike Petty and Chris Jones.
Brent is survived by his children Brandon and Ryan Self and Valerie and her husband Dylan Morris, and his grandchild Oaklee Marie Morris, all living in Rockwall; parents, Richard and Connie Self of Fate; sister Lisa Vick and nephew Nathan Vick of Tool, TX., Aunt Shirley Jones of Weatherford, TX, Aunt Carey Pettigrew and husband Sid of Fort Worth, TX, Uncle Lawrence and wife Tinia Petty of Keller, TX and Uncle Kelly Petty of Granbury, TX. He has many cousins in the Self and Petty families and friends that will miss him.
Brent graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1989. He made life-long friends with his buddies from high school. Joe Lee, Billy McKee and Chad Haar are like brothers to him.
After graduation Brent and his Dad, Richard, started a sales servicing business, R & B Sales. Brent’s personality and smile made him a great salesman. Brent could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. The business started in the home garage, moved to a small office and later to a large office and warehouse employing over 50 people.
Brent fought Congestive Heart Failure for eight long years. He spent many days in several hospitals in North Texas through the years. Since January he has been hospitalized 33 days. He was revived when his heart stopped many times in the past two and half months. He never gave up hope he would get better. His heart finally gave out on March 13th and the Lord called him home. The family thanks so many good heart doctors and medical staff that kept him going through the years.
Brent’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. As we bid farewell to Brent, we celebrate a life lived with love for his family and friends.
