Brenda (Shipley) Phillips of Sachse, Texas - more affectionately known by many as Brenda Gail, BG or BooBoo - passed away suddenly at home after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease on Friday July 10, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born on March 19, 1950 in Terrell, Texas.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Harry Shipley, Sr and Mary Sue (Reeder) Shipley. She found love after divorce and is survived by her lifelong partner, Bobby Levy. She is also survived by her daughter Tami Tobey (husband Tim), son Biff Phillips (wife Stacey), daughter Nikki Quinn (husband Darrell), son Bradley Phillips (wife Traci) and step-daughter Terra Lanahan (husband Tommy). Her grandchildren were the pride of her life and include; Tyler, Tanner, Trevor and Taylor Tobey; Tori Magers and Cheyenne Phillips; Randi Dawson; Megan, Brady and Madison Phillips; Kylie and Kasen Dominguez. She is also survived by her brother Harry Shipley, Jr (wife Elaine) and her sister Shirley Duffek (husband Joe) along with numerous dear cousins and 3 great grandchildren.
Brenda graduated from Richfield High School in 1968. She worked for many years as a telephone operator and then transitioned into property management and renovation.
She lived with mental illness for much of her life, a struggle that brought both difficult seasons and profound challenges for herself and those who loved her. While those challenges were a significant part of her journey, they did not erase the qualities that made her uniquely Brenda or lessen the love we had for each other. She will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, her lively personality, and her ability to bring humor and energy into a room. In her best moments, she connected deeply with others through her wit, and unmistakable spirit. Those memories—and the love shared with family and friends—will remain a lasting part of her legacy. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)
A private celebration of life will be enjoyed by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association (https://wallofremembrance.funraise.org/fundraiser/brenda-phillips-memorial) or NAMI Dallas.
