Betty Jane Brown

Betty Jane Brown, 94, of McKinney, Texas was born on January 23, 1928 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to John and Irene (Christiansen) Lynch. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Allen, Texas and a member of the Sunday School Class XYZ's.

Betty married Mr. Orla Brown on February 2, 1957 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a Homemaker, part time Retail and Office and Nurse.

Betty was born in Iowa and migrated to Abilene, Kansas, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Garland, Texas before she and her husband , Orla, purchased twenty acres in Fairview in early 1966.

She worked part time in several hospitals and a nursing home and also in retail and office positions. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Clothes Closet.

She and her husband traveled extensively to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, Seattle, Washington D.C., Boston, Nashville, Florida, California, England, Ireland, Canada, the Caribbean , and many other places.

She enjoyed watching grandchildren play sports as well as the Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks. She also was a voracious reader and loved reading several books at a time. She had a healthy interest in gambling with scratch -offs, bingo, and casino slot machines!

She was preceded in death by her husband Orla Brown, son; Jim Holmes, granddaughter; Robin Roach, daughter-in-law; Laura Holmes.

She is survived by daughter-in-law Pat Holmes of Plano, Texas, son; Steve and Annette Holmes of Caribou, Maine, daughter; Lorie and Rick Gillean of Georgetown, Texas, son; Ron and DeDe Brown of Nevada, Texas. Six grandchildren and Eight great-grandchildren.
