Barbara L. Anderson passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and devotion to family. Born on September 17, 1946, to the late Vernon and Maria Taylor, Barbara lived a life rooted in compassion, purpose, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Tom Anderson, her partner in life and love for nearly three decades. Married on April 17, 1995, they shared 31 beautiful years together and were joyfully planning to renew their vows on January 17, 2026—a milestone Barbara spoke of often and looked forward to with great excitement. Her love for Tom was deep, steadfast, and evident to all who knew them.
She was a devoted mother to Karen (husband Justin ), and two sons Mark and Kenneth, sister to Patty Keifer (husband Buddy), Step Mother to Danielle (husband John ), and Melanie. Barbara’s heart expanded even more fully in her role as grandmother to her 14 cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Hannah, Tyler, Michael, Emily, Eric, Brayden, Tegan, Logan, Riley, Taylor, Katie, Olivia, and Victoria. Being “Grandma” was one of her greatest joys, and her love for her grandchildren was boundless.
Barbara dedicated 28 years of her life to education, shaping young minds as a middle school English teacher at I.S. 204 Oliver W. Holmes and P.S./I.S. 87, The Middle Village School. She touched the lives of countless students, many of whom remember her as a teacher who truly cared, inspired confidence, and believed in their potential long after they left her classroom.
Barbara devoted her time and heart to her faith community at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. Her service was an extension of who she was—selfless, humble, and full of grace. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to others, and was actively involved in the Fusion program, helping guide young boys as they prepared for the sacrament of Confirmation. Her faith was lived daily, not just spoken.
Barbara had a deep love for music, which brought her joy and comfort throughout her life. She was also an avid animal lover, finding special companionship in her beloved cat Lilly. She was preceded in death by her cherished dogs Maggie and Rocco, whom she loved dearly.
Above all else, Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family, her students, and her community. Her life was one of service, devotion, and quiet strength—and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Barbara’s memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, the love she so freely gave, and the stories she told that will forever keep her spirit alive.
