Aulsine DeLoach

Flora Aulsine DeLoach was born on the Ouachita River in the community of Corey, LA on January 2, 1932 to William Aulsie and Eunice C. Coates and passed away in Sachse Texas on September 22, 2026.

Although her first name was in honor of her Grandmother, she preferred and was better known throughout her life by her middle name, Aulsine. Aulsine was the oldest of three daughters born into the Aulsie Coates family. The Coates family moved from Corey, LA to Clarks, LA and, subsequently to West Monroe, LA where she attended Ouachita Parish High School and started her college at NE Louisiana State College.

Aulsine married her late husband, Edward Francis DeLoach Jr. (“Ed”), on December 27, 1951. They had one daughter, Lois Kathleen and three adopted children, Janice Lee, Lisa Ann and James Randall. Aulsine was a dedicated Mother and while her children were attending school and related activities, she enrolled in college at Southern Methodist University and received her degree in Education, the same year her son graduated from high school. Upon graduation Aulsine joined the teaching staff at Aldridge Elementary School in Plano, TX and served as 5th grade teacher and team leader for over 20 years where her focus and passion was the Talented and Gifted Program. While teaching she continued her education at the University of Texas, Dallas and received her Master of Arts Degree in 1985. Aulsine retired from teaching in 1991.

During their professional careers Aulsine and husband, Ed, enjoyed traveling and became “weekenders” on Cedar Creek Lake in the mid-1960s. When they both retired, they moved permanently to the lake area and in 1997 built and moved into their dream home in the Pinnacle Golf & Boat Club community. Aulsine was instrumental in organizing and became the first President of the Pinnacle Women’s Club in 1998; she became a Friend of the Malakoff Public Library and worked in various offices for many years; she joined and served as President of the Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City where she established the church library and served as Librarian for many years.

Aulsine leaves behind her daughter, Janice Lee Compton and husband, Delmer; daughter Lisa Ann Wallen; Grandchildren, Josh Compton, Amanda Gallaway and husband Scott, Eva Pearl and husband, David, Rachel Jerry and husband, Jeremy; Great Grandchildren, Oliver Gallaway, Eleanor Gallaway, Will Pearl, Brandon Pearl, Emily Pearl, Bryce Jerry and wife Emily, Abigail Christesen and husband Will, Sophie Jerry and Lilly Jerry. She is also survived by her sister Mattie Chapman of Arlington, TX and sister Mary Sue Mitchell of West Monroe, LA.

Aulsine was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, daughter, Lois Kathleen, son, James Randall and her parents, Aulsie and Eunice Coates.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, beginning at 11:00 AM at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Lavon, Texas. Individual memorials may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
