Angela Joy Hallford

Angela Joy Hallford, fondly known as Angie to her family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 21, 2026, in Wylie, Texas, at the age of 51.

Angie was born on February 21, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas, to Travis and Sally Hallford. She spent her childhood in Florida, and accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age. She graduated from Seminole High School in Seminole before pursuing her passion for beauty through cosmetology school.

Angie worked for several years as a hairstylist and later worked at South Biscayne Baptist Church. She moved to Texas to be closer to her parents before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2000 to be near her sister, brother-in-law, and newborn niece, Courtney. She was married to David McPeak for four years and remained close to David and his extended family. Eventually, her heart called her back to her native Texas, where she settled in Plano.

After attending culinary school at Collin College, Angie discovered what would become one of her greatest passions. Cooking was more than a talent—it was her love language. She delighted in preparing meals for family and friends, sharing her gifts through catering, and serving others in the church youth group and community food kitchens. Whether feeding a crowd or making someone's favorite meal, Angie found joy in caring for people through food.

In 2012, Angie married Glenn Peña, and together they shared ten years of marriage. During that time, she lovingly embraced Glenn's daughter, Audrey, as her own and devotedly cared for her father-in-law, Fred.

Angie had a servant's heart and was always putting others before herself. Angie had a wonderful sense of humor, a generous spirit, and a creative soul. In recent years, she discovered a love for acrylic pour painting, creating vibrant works of art that reflected her joyful personality and appreciation for beauty while also providing a source of peace and healing. Throughout her career, Angie also held various administrative positions, including with Johnson Controls and Region 10 Education Service Center.

Like many, Angie faced the difficult disease of alcohol addiction. With remarkable courage, she sought healing through Alcoholics Anonymous, outpatient treatment programs, and an intensive two-month inpatient treatment program.

Although the disease of alcohol addiction ultimately contributed to her death, it never defined her life. She was so much more than her struggle. She was deeply loved, and she loved others with extraordinary generosity, compassion, humor, and creativity.

Our family shares this part of Angie's story with the hope that it will encourage anyone who is facing addiction, or loving someone who is. Please don't give up. Keep asking for help. Keep believing that recovery is possible. There is always hope.

Angie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her parents, Travis and Sally Hallford of Wylie, Texas; her sister, April Hallford of Josephine, Texas; her niece, Courtney Neuwirth of Kingwood, Texas; her nephew, Drew Neuwirth of Winter Park, Florida; her stepdaughter, Audrey Peña of Murphy, Texas; her stepson, Cody Peña, his wife, Danielle, and their son, Owen, of Aubrey, Texas; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.

While we grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Angie is now whole, at peace, and in the loving presence of Jesus.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Cross Church Chapel in Wylie, Texas. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Alcoholics Anonymous or The Cross Church Stephen’s Ministry.
